The Theme of Self Acceptance Throughout the Duration of the Novel 'Ready Player One'

Self Acceptance In the novel Ready Player One,  written by Ernest Cline, many of the characters struggle with self acceptance. This theme is relevant n not only this novel but today's society with youth because of images on social media or others around them. Rather than or normal apps like Instagram or Facebook where millennial's hide their flaws from the world, these characters hide in the OASIS where they can choose to be whom ever they would like. Wade explains to the reader that " you could become whomever and whatever you wanted to be, without ever revealing your true identity" (Cline, ) since the OASIS guarantees your privacy. Unfortunately, this encourages the players to hide their flaws instead of embracing them. For example, Wade is described to be over weight and is bullied for that but he expresses that know one in the OASIS knows he is fat since he looks different than his character.
